djtenku | [WRITING;MISC] Purge Two

And this Purge... in retrospect wish I was I could've been a little more sentimental... so this is probably the one I'll change.

This is also the shortest, but I think effective; would've been long winded but like I said before, it's a Purge. I also had a tough time choosing the song to listen to; "Her" and "Beyond Love" by Fat Jon, mainly because it's about Shina -- they're both soft songs and fit this one pretty well. She has most of the lines in this one. It was actually pretty hard because it is an emotional scene for her, but I think I got the right balance. Plus, there is a line said that Kento doesn't catch until the last Purge. I thought about putting the reaction in but, that would sort of ...what's the word.

Anyway, context is that Kento finally reaches the mansion and into her suite -- and he's hiding out there while other stuff happens; close calls, some ingenious hiding tactics... hijinks ensue. But, this is set during at night, and well, they have a minor disagreement.

Kento stood back, a look of confusion and hurt crossed his face.

"What...what do mean you can't go?"

It was a simple question. Shina looked away briefly, trying to form the words; her hands began to gesture but she clasped them around her mouth, tears rolling down her cheeks. "Because," she answered in a short sob, "you'll die. Because of me."

He drew her in and embraced her as her body shook. "I...it was a dream," she continued, "a night exactly like this. We were escaping... and you, a stray bullet. Right here." Shina tapped him over his heart. "You were trying to go back for me, when I fell."

Those very words chilled him. It was exactly how his nightmare played out.

"Then, there was this person. All black. Checking to make sure you were dead. It... it was Rowan! Please, Kento, you have to get him first."

"But," he began to say.

"God damn it! We already tried! They are going to kill him and god knows what else! Don't leave them without a father! Don't leave me without a husband! Just..."

"Be quiet, Shina." In silence and darkness, they stood. "I can't guarrantee my own safety; you and I know this very well. I don't know what's next for me, but it's obvious that the odds aren't in my favor. Never has; never will." Kento paused, wondering what to say next. Truefully, he still wanted to object her plea. But her dream - and his - was far too alike to be just a coincidence.

"Whatever you're thinking, don't doubt yourself," Shina said. "I know that this isn't easy. I'm scared too. Please, just save him before it's too late."
